Destiny Phillips, a multi-event talent on the Dunbar girls? track team, starts to warm up an hour before competition and gets more dialed in with each passing minute. She fixates on driving out of the blocks and timing her steps properly in the hurdles. She visualizes gliding over the high jump bar. The last thing the senior?s got time to think about is a wardrobe malfunction giving fans a little more than she originally intended.
Phillips used to have to break concentration to fix a uniform that may have shifted unexpectedly, but those days are over. Since the Crimson Tide started competing in skorts in February ? the black compression shorts with a miniskirt over top were designed to eliminate embarrassing moments ? the Dunbar girls have spent more time focusing on their events and less time feeling self-conscious because of what they?re wearing. The Northwest school is the only one in the Washington area with these uniforms.
