Baseball is always trying to go global, and the Baseball Hall of Fame had a United Nations kind of class in 2011, with a Canadian emphasis.
Roberto Alomar, the Puerto Rican son of a big-leaguer, is the first to go into the Hall wearing a Toronto Blue Jays cap. Bert Blyleven, is the first Dutchman to be inducted and lived in Canada as a child. Pat Gillick constructed that Toronto team that won the World Series.
